Manta rays take about 10 years to reach sexual maturity. Once they start breeding, they usually have a single pup (sometimes two) every two to five years. Gestation is believed to be about a year long. Eggs are retained within the mother mantra ray’s body, where they hatch. Sometime after, she gives birth to live young.
